Papers: Van Dijk 'ready to leave' Liverpool
Virgil van Dijk is reportedly ready to leave Liverpool, with Galatasaray interested.
The Denver Broncos cut outside linebacker Garrett Nelson and offensive tackle Marques Cox to make room for 14 undrafted free agents. This move was necessary after one UDFA deal fell through due to a failed physical.
After reaching agreements with 14 undrafted free agents, the Denver Broncos were set to be four players over the NFL's 90-man offseason roster limit. Denver freed up one spot by designating Australian punter Jeremy Crawshaw as their international player, making him an offseason roster exemption.
Not all of the UDFA deals became official, as Charlotte wide receiver Sean Brown (foot) failed his physical and did not sign, according to the Denver Post's Luca Evans. After that, the Broncos needed to open up two roster spots, so the team cut outside linebacker Garrett Nelson and offensive tackle Marques Cox.
Nelson (6-4, 245 pounds) went to training camp with Denver last summer but failed to make the 53-man roster. He later had two stints on the practice squad during the regular season and signed a reserve/reserve contract with the club after the Broncos were knocked out of the NFL playoffs.
Cox (6-5, 312 pounds) originally joined the team as an undrafted free agent out of Kentucky in 2025. He spent part of his rookie season on Denver's practice squad before a stint with the Arizona Cardinals. He returned to the Broncos on a reserve/future contract in January after his practice squad contract expired in Arizona.
Denver is now at the 90-man roster limit (with Crawshaw exempt) going into rookie minicamp (May 8-10). More changes could be on the way next week because at least and are trying out at the rookie minicamp. If any of those tryout players impress enough to earn a spot on the roster, the Broncos will have to make room for them to sign. Denver might also consider bringing back the recently cut players after evaluating rookies this weekend.
