Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix wrote a heartfelt letter to his daughter, Riley, reflecting on the highs and lows of the 2025 NFL season. He shared personal insights about his faith and the challenges he faced, including a broken ankle that prevented him from playing in the Super Bowl.
Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix penned a public letter to his daughter, Riley, in The Players' Tribune on Wednesday. Izzy and Bo Nix welcomed Riley on Feb. 25, the QB's birthday.
In Bo's letter, he highlighted the highs and lows from the 2025 season, when his wife Izzy was pregnant.
"You wonât remember (kicker Wil) Lutzâs game-winner against the Chiefs, Nik (Bonitto)âs game-saving stop against the Commanders, or J-Macâs incredible interception and Marvinâs TD catch against the Bills," wrote Nix. "You wonât remember our crazy comebacks, our win streak, or the deafening roar of our fans at Mile High. You wonât remember us being Overdogs. You also wonât remember the cameras zooming in on me during the AFC Championship Game, sitting in a suite with a boot. You wonât remember how close we were to the Super Bowl, or how badly I wanted to be out there with my teammates.
"But one day, when youâre older, you might hear about it. So I want you to hear it from me, in my own words. I want you to know how Iâve leaned on my faith in Jesus and our family to keep moving forward. Not just in the context of this season, but as a man, a husband, an athlete, and now as a father. Our season didnât end the way I thought it would. I broke my ankle one step away from the Super Bowl. It hurt. Bad. Not just physically. It hurt because I love playing the game with my teammates. It hurt because weâve built something really special. It hurt because when youâre that close to something youâve dreamed about your whole life, you donât want it taken out of your hands. "
Bo also spoke about the role of his parents and wife, and the influence they will have on Riley. He also gave his daughter some great advice: "Some of your best learning will come from challenges and disagreements â from conflict," Nix continued. "That happened this year, too. Lean in and donât be afraid. You can have different ideas than someone and still work together. A real discussion with a coach or teammate is not a bad thing. Rooted in respect, it can help you and them reach greater heights and a deeper understanding. These are opportunities to grow."
Nix closed his letter by telling Riley she'll face her own setbacks, but those setbacks will represent new paths with new beginnings. "And sometimes, itâs the only way God can slow you down enough to show you what really matters," Nix wrote. "For me, that is you. I love you more than any win."
