Bryson DeChambeau had one of those no good, brutal, terrible, awful, very bad days on Thursday at the PGA Championship.
He shot a 6-over par to be well off the pace after his first round, but that doesn't really tell the whole story. To do that, you need a crazy missed putt and a staircase.
Only with those in mind is it possible to understand how frustrating the golf was for Bryson on Thursday.
The green was just way too fast downhill for DeChambeau on this one.
He barely tapped the ball, and it just wouldn't stop:
He did rally to at least make a bogey on the hole, but that's not ideal.
On hole No. 2, DeChambeau hit his first shot in such an errant way that it managed to end up on the first step of a temporary staircase.
That led to a long discussion about where he was allowed to drop the ball to have relief.
In the end, it didn't seem like anyone was unhappy with the outcome, but in the moment, DeChambeau was very confused:
