Cameron Young reveals what Scottie Scheffler said after he called a penalty on himself at the Cadillac Championship

Cameron Young has shared what Scottie Scheffler told him immediately after he called in a rules official and received a one-shot penalty during the final round of the Cadillac Championship last week.

Young produced an outstanding performance on the Blue Monster at Doral to take home his second PGA Tour title of the season.

The 28-year-old took charge of the tournament from the very early stages and kept his foot down over the rest of the week.

In truth, no-one could get near him – even when he received a penalty on the second hole of his final round.

What Scottie Scheffler told Cameron Young after he called a penalty on himself

Young immediately called in a rules official as he prepared to hit his approach shot. He had noticed that his ball had moved and was swiftly issued with a one-shot penalty.

He still went on to make a par. And it proved to be a fairly simple task for Young to get across the line and win.

It was particularly impressive given that he was playing alongside Scottie Scheffler for three of the four days, including in the final round.

And speaking to ESPN, Young revealed how Scheffler reacted to the incident on the second hole.

“He basically said there’s no way that you moved it. The timing was certainly suspicious, but I don’t think I moved it either, but who knows. You’ve just got to eat it,” he said.
