Deion Sanders and Chad Johnson never played on the same team together in Cincinnati, but have had a friendly rivalry over the years.
The flamboyant and outspoken former NFL stars played opposing positions in football. Sanders was a standout defensive back and Johnson, the former Bengal, was a wide receiver.
The pair had a light-hearted exchange on social media about having a joint football camp.
Sanders, who is the head football coach at the University of Colorado, proposed having a cornerbacks camp that coincides with a receivers camp that Johnson is having. Johnson has a receivers camp scheduled this summer in Florida.
On X, Sanders said, “I got a GREAT idea because I love your receiver camp!” Sanders wrote. “I can have a Corner camp when u have your rec camp and we get down and see what’s what and who’s who! Let’s start off with us. I will still baptize u with 8! And you know what I mean! It’s ALWAYS onsight. Pray about it! 🙏🏾”
Johnson quoted his post and replied, “I love you boss man and would love a WR/DB joint camp, my last baptism is starting to wear off so you can get these 1 on 1's, I'm always open.”
Johnson and Sanders both played in Cincinnati and their careers overlapped briefly. Sanders played his final year in Major League Baseball with the Reds in 2001. Johnson was drafted by the Bengals that year and made his NFL debut that fall.
They were on opposite sidelines in 2004 and 2005, when Sanders ended his NFL career with the Baltimore Ravens.
