The San Francisco 49ers are seeking to strengthen their wide receiver corps after several players hit free agency. They are considering 2026 NFL draft prospect Chris Brazzell II, who will visit the team this week.
The San Francisco 49ers needed to address their wide receiver rom this offseason with Jauan Jennings, Kendrick Bourne, Skyy Moore and Trent Taylor all hitting free agency and Brandon Aiyuk expected to depart as well.
While San Francisco has brought in Mike Evans and Christian Kirk, they're still looking for more weapons for Brock Purdy to throw to. One of those options is 2026 NFL draft prospect Chris Brazzell II, who the 49ers will host for a top-30 visit this week, according to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Brazzell, the son of former NFL and CFL wideout with the same name, was a three-star recruit out of Midland Lee High School in Midland, Texas, before splitting his college career between Tulane and Tennessee.
In 40 games over four years between the two schools, Brazzell caught 136 passes for 2,072 yards and 16 touchdowns. He earned All-Conference honors twice (once in the AAC in 2023 and once in the SEC in 2025) and led the SEC in receiving touchdowns this past season.
Brazzell notably has some issues catching the ball on short or intermediate routes and can struggle getting open on those plays as well.
With Evans, Kirk and Ricky Pearsall likely being San Francisco's top three wide receivers in 2026, Brazzell would be fighting for the fourth spot on the depth chart as a rookie. And with most mock drafts having him go around the third round, the 49ers, who only have six picks to make in this draft, may be better off addressing other needs on Day 2.
