Avieon Terrell had three interceptions and 25 passes defensed during his three years at Clemson, earning Second-Team All-ACC honors in 2024 and First-Team All-ACC as a junior.
The Cowboys aim to improve their secondary depth, particularly at cornerback, due to injuries that have affected their ability to field top players.
Other cornerback prospects linked to the Cowboys include Mansoor Delane from LSU, Brandon Cisse from South Carolina, and Colton Hood from Tennessee.
CB Avieon Terrell from Clemson was among 30 pre-draft visitors at the Dallas Cowboys complex as the team seeks to strengthen its cornerback depth. Terrell, who earned All-ACC honors, is the younger brother of NFL player A.J. Terrell.
One of the goals of the Dallas Cowboys this offseason was to fix the secondary depth, especially at cornerback where injuries have hampered their ability to field their best players. Free agency brought CBs Cobie Durant and Derion Kendrick to couple with the team re-signing Corey Ballentine, Josh Butler, and Reddy Steward.
It's a start, but the team is still looking for upgrades, which means turning to the NFL draft for long-term help. The latest due dilligence to prepare for the coming weekend was a Top 30 visit for Clemson CB Avieon Terrell.
In his three years with the Tigers, Terrell had three interceptions and 25 passes defensed, earning Second-Team All-ACC honors in 2024, and First-Team All-ACC last season as a Junior. He's also the younger brother of Atlanta Falcons CB A.J. Terrell, who was a first-round pick in 2020 and a Second-Team All-Pro in 2021.
Terrrell joins a host of other top CB prospects who have met with or have been linked to the Cowboys in the pre-draft process. LSU's Mansoor Delane, South Carolina's Brandon Cisse, as well as Tennessee's Colton Hood have also been predraft visitors to Dallas.
The top corners for Christian Parker's defense are currently DaRon Bland and Shavon Revel, both who have had injury questions, and Durant, who started 15 games for the Los Angeles Rams last season. Young CBs Caelen Carson and Trikweze Bridges will fight for a roster spot with veterans Ballentine, Butler and Kendrick heading into 2026. The assumption has been the Cowboys will also be selecting a top rookie CB to be included in that group.
Terrell is a strong option for the Cowboys with their second first-round pick in the draft and has been mocked to the team as a top CB prospect in the class. If Dallas doesn't select one of the top CBs at 12, Terrell could be in play with the 20th pick overall.
Terrell's Pro Day performance didn't do him any favors. The big question about the CB coming into the draft process centered around his speed, and his 40-yard dash timed at 4.6 seconds was a crushing time. During the run Terrell reaggravated a hamstring injury suffered in February, which could have been the reason for the slow time, and forced him to shut down the rest of the workout.
Despite the pro day results, Terrell remains a name to remember for the Cowboys. The team could grab the talented corner at pick 20, or possibly later in a trade back scenario. Terrell is a highly sought after prospect, and the Cowboys still have a need at CB; Terrell would make a great fit in Dallas.
