Charles Oliveira doesn’t seem to have lost his edge when it comes to the UFC president.
The Brazilian has crossed paths with Dana White plenty of times over the course of his 37-fight run in the Octagon.
His knockout win over Michael Chandler in 2021 capped off a remarkable journey to the top, earning him an unexpected rise to the UFC lightweight title.
While that win raised Oliveira’s profile significantly, he admitted later on that there are still moments when he finds himself uneasy around White.
UFC president Dana White recently confirmed that Oliveira is set for his return at UFC 303 against Dan Hooker in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The fight is scheduled for June 29th at T-Mobile Arena as part of International Fight Week. There had been talk of other opponents, but it’s now official that Hooker will be standing across from him inside the Octagon next month.

Oliveira defeated Max Holloway at UFC 326 in March to become the fourth fighter to hold the title. While waiting for news on his next opponent, he appeared in a video for the Aviator YouTube channel, spending some time away from the Octagon.
During the video, he took a lie detector test and answered questions ranging from Brazil’s World Cup campaign to Conor McGregor’s return and who he thinks is the greatest lightweight of all time.
Most of Oliveira’s answers matched up with the test, but things got interesting when he was asked whether he is “afraid” of Dana White.
He replied, “No.” The test said otherwise, and Oliveira had a light-hearted response ready when it suggested fear: “He’s the boss, right?”

The champion is hoping to challenge either Ilia Topuria or Justin Gaethje after their lightweight title unification bout at The White House. If that fight doesn’t come together, Oliveira has also shown interest in facing Nate Diaz, who is set to return at Netflix’s event on May 16.
The two have exchanged words since UFC 326. Diaz criticised how Oliveira won the belt – a title that Diaz helped create ahead of Jorge Masvidal’s fight back at UFC 244 in 2019.
