Miles Scott, a new safety for the Denver Broncos, aims to fill the void left by P.J. Locke. He previously played as a wide receiver before transitioning to defensive back, where he excelled in college.
Newly-minted Denver Broncos safety Miles Scott could have the potential to take over the hole left by P.J. Locke, who left during NFL free agency this spring.
Scott was heavily recruited by the Broncos, having a Top 30 visit with the team after the NFL combine. "I loved it," said Scott of visiting Denver and its facilities. "I really enjoyed the visit and I really enjoyed the city as well. I feel like everyone is well put together. I didn’t really have any complaints at all. I’m grateful to have this opportunity.”
Scott converted to defensive back after starting his college career as a wide receiver. While not productive as a receiver, he thrived on defense, making 182 total tackles (131 solo, 51 assisted), with four tackles for loss, one sack, seven interceptions (with two of those picks going to the house) as a DB.
Scott also reunites with former teammates, wide receiver Pat Bryant and offensive lineman Alex Palczewski, in the NFL. Scott was excited at the prospect of competing alongside Bryant once again.
"Me and Pat came in together, so me and Pat were there for four years together and I was there with ‘Palcho’ as well my first two years in 2021 and 2022," Scott said. "I was playing on the offensive side of the ball. Tough, smart, dependable, that’s the Illinois way. We were recruited that way to come to Illinois and I feel like it is similar here in Denver.”
Check out some of Scott's best highlights below.
Scott will have to work hard to get snaps on a talented Broncos defense in 2026, but could find a spot as a versatile special teams player and rotational backup safety.
