Chelsea Are Ready To Step Up Their Efforts To Land This Talented Defender: Good Option For The Blues?
In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey mentioned that Chelsea are ready to step up their efforts to land Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez. It has been claimed that the Blues are showing interest in recruiting the Ecuadorian talent this summer.
Ordonez has enjoyed a solid campaign in the Jupiler Pro League after producing a run of impressive performances for Club Brugge on the defensive end of the field. The 22-year-old has scored four times in 42 matches for the Belgian outfit this season across various competitions.
The Ecuadorian sensation is currently one of the best centre-halves in the Jupiler Pro League. Hence, the Blues would do well to snap him up in this summer transfer window.
His current contract at Club Brugge will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it difficult for Chelsea to land him on a cut-price deal later this year.

Ordonez is a tough-tackling defender, who can sense the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesnât mind putting his foot through the ball when required and is proficient at playing his way out from the back.
Standing at 1.88m, the Ecuadorian sensation can use his strong frame to win a few 50-50 aerial duels for his team. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if the Blues manage to get a deal over the line for him at the end of this campaign.
We can expect Ordonez to add more quality and depth to Chelseaâs backline. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at Stamford Bridge in the coming seasons.
At 22, Ordonez has got the ceiling to become a future star in English football. Therefore, he would be a decent option for the West London club to pursue in the long run. Ordonez might even help Chelsea compete for a European spot in the Premier League over the next few years. All in all, the Blues should focus on going all out to land him this off-season.
