Chelsea defender tries to explain how team magically got its powers back in FA Cup win

Trevoh Chalobah spoke to the media after Chelsea’s FA Cup semi final win over Leeds last night, and tried to explain what had changed.

After Chelsea’s narrow win over Leeds at Wembley, Trevoh Chalobah spoke to the TV cameras about why he thought his team had been able to suddenly raise their game following the sacking of Liam Rosenior earlier in the week.

“I don’t know, maybe when you don’t win games it’s hard to get that determination back. For us it was just resetting, getting our standards back,” Chalobah said.

“It’s still the players we had at the start of the season when we were flying. It’s not like we lose our abilities overnight. It’s just resetting and getting that feeling back and that mentality back.”

We know what he means, but the reality is that these guys sort of did lose their abilities overnight. They stopped playing for the last coach, whether consciously or not.

That is going to cost them all massively individually, as well as the club’s long term future.
