The New England Patriots are reportedly releasing tight end Marshall Lang following the 2026 NFL Draft, where they added two new tight ends. Lang had previously signed a futures deal but did not play in a regular season game.
The New England Patriots are reportedly releasing tight end Marshall Lang, according to Boston Herald's Doug Kyed on Monday.
This news comes after the 2026 NFL Draft weekend, where the Patriots added a couple of extra players to the tight end room. They used a third-round pick on former Notre Dame standout tight end Eli Raridon, and they also signed Illinois' undrafted rookie free agent Tanner Arkin.
That ultimately led the team to cut ties with Lang, whom they signed to a reserve/futures deal back in February. Lang has spent two stints with the Patriots on the practice squad, but he has yet to see the field in a regular season game.
He signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted rookie last season, before he was ultimately cut by the team and found his way to New England. The tight ends room in New England is on the verge of a massive renovation project with Austin Hooper leaving in free agency and a 31-year-old Hunter Henry playing in the final year of his contract.
Lang will now have to look elsewhere to continue his NFL journey.
