Alonso is a very popular choice amongst the Chelsea fan base, but he isn’t the only manager they are linked with or are apparently looking at.
One option who is named in most reports is former Chelsea player Filipe Luis, who is also available this summer.
However, it looks like Alonso’s former club Bayern Leverkusen are now courting Luis and have him under consideration for their new manager this summer in what could be an ironic twist in this story.

Patrick Berger of Sky Germany posted on X last night:
“The separation from coach Kasper Hjulmand is considered all but official internally at Bayern 04 Leverkusen. Talks with candidates are already underway behind the scenes. According to Sky sources, Filipe Luis, who is currently without a contract after his Flamengo exit and whose €15m clause is no longer valid, as well as Michel from Girona, are candidates.”

Chelsea could welcome two attacking options back to the squad this weekend, just in time for the FA Cup final. It’s good news for McFarlane with more options now available to him.
