Different No. 1 team atop NCAA Softball top 25 rankings in stretch run
Oklahoma Sooners reclaim No. 1 spot in NCAA Softball rankings for the fifth week in a row.
Cincinnati Bearcats baseball is ranked No. 23 in the Top 25 by Baseball America, marking their second ranking this season. They recently won two out of three games against No. 12 West Virginia.
For a second time this season and the first time in a month, Cincinnati Bearcats baseball is ranked in the Top 25.
Baseball America released its rankings on Monday morning, April 27, placing UC at No. 23, ahead of Tennessee and Alabama in the SEC. The Bearcats just took two of three vs. No. 12 West Virginia at UC Baseball Stadium, dropping the Mountaineers to No. 20.
Other Big 12 teams ranked are Kansas at No. 11 and Arizona State at No. 21. UC lost two of three games in March to Kansas and has yet to play the Sun Devils.
D! Baseball still has UC on the outside looking in in their Top 25. Even with the series loss to the Bearcats, West Virginia is at No. 18. Just Baseball has UC at No. 25, with the Mountaineers still in at No. 22.
UC is 29-17 and just four wins away from last year's win total of 33, which was good enough for them to earn an at-large bid in the NCAA Tournament. After the season, head coach Jordan Bischel was rewarded with a contract extension.
Cincinnati Bearcats baseball is currently ranked No. 23 in the Top 25 by Baseball America.
The Bearcats won two out of three games against No. 12 West Virginia.
Other ranked teams include Kansas at No. 11 and Arizona State at No. 21.

Coach Jordan Bischel and the Cincinnati Bearcats have 29 wins going into May. They had 33 all of last season.
The Bearcats hit the trail April 24 at Houston to begin a seven-game road trip. It's their first week this year without a midweek game. They play the Cougars May 1-3, followed by one game at Oral Roberts in Tulsa May 5, then have a weekend at Kansas State May 8-10.
The final home series of the season is May 14-16 vs. Texas Tech. After that, it's the Big 12 Baseball Championship, May 19-23 in Surprise, Arizona, the spring training home of the Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers.
The NCAA Tournament selection show is Monday, May 25 at 12 p.m. (Eastern) on ESPN2.
