If there were any doubts about Binghamton High School's ability to create a modern football star, those doubts were laid down to rest on Saturday.
Colbie Young, a former Binghamton Patriots star and University of Georgia wide receiver, was claimed by the Cincinnati Bengals via the New York Jets in the fourth round as the 140th overall pick of the NFL Draft—the first Binghamton High School alum to be drafted in the 21st century.
Despite being a huge Jets fan and holding New York close to his chest, having still based his Twitter account in Binghamton, he told the Bengals that he's excited to have the opportunity to be a part of the Cincinnati family and potentially learn from a wide receiver group that includes stars like Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.
Young posted a 4.49-second 40-yard dash at the 2026 NFL Combine, placing him 30th overall among wide receivers, according to his draft profile.
The Binghamton native will begin to get comfortable with the black and orange stripes at the Bengals' upcoming summer training sessions, and more officially at the start of the NFL season in September.
