The Boston Celtics have had every possible postseason outcome over the last five years. They've lost in the first round, the second round, the Eastern Conference Finals and the NBA Finals. They've also won the NBA Finals, which they did in 2024.
The Celtics' three non-Finals exits were both shocking and puzzling, as they were heavily favored to win all three series. It didn't help that their best player, Jayson Tatum, got hurt in all of them, leaving Boston shorthanded at the worst possible time.
Another green team, the Philadelphia Eagles, has been on a similar trajectory. Over the last five years, the Eagles have won a Super Bowl, lost a Super Bowl, and lost three Wild Card Round games.
Both teams are incredibly talented and have won a championship, but more often than not, they've fallen short in the postseason.
"I kinda watched Boston. I thought, 'They're the Eagles,'" Colin Cowherd said on "The Volume" following Boston's Game 7 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. "In five years, they've won a title, they've lost a title, three head-scratching series, and you're like, 'What the hell are they?'"
The Boston Celtics have experienced every possible postseason outcome, including losses in the first round, second round, Eastern Conference Finals, and winning the NBA Finals in 2024.
The Celtics were heavily favored in their postseason series due to their strong performance during the regular season, but injuries to key players like Jayson Tatum hindered their success.
Jayson Tatum is the Celtics' best player, and his injuries during critical playoff series significantly affected the team's performance and chances of advancing.

Cowherd reiterated his take from last week that the Celtics are "more formula than fantastic."
With Philadelphia, the issue is that Jalen Hurts isn't quite good enough. With Boston, the same could be said about Jaylen Brown.
Both have coaching issues, too. Nick Sirianni doesn't inspire confidence, while Joe Mazzulla often struggles to make adjustments.
In the end, both are successful teams and great franchises, but there's a gnawing sense that they could and should have accomplished more over the last half-decade.
