After shockingly blowing a 3-1 series lead against the Philadelphia 76ers, the Boston Celtics' season is over. It's the first time since 2021 that they failed to survive the first round.
While Celtics fans are stunned and disappointed by their team's early exit, Colin Cowherd isn't sad to see them go.
"Their offense is predictable and boring. It's too many 3-point shots," Cowherd said on Tuesday's episode of "The Herd." He's also glad the Golden State Warriors are out.
"I think it's good for the league. It's like the tush push: It was less effective last year. Good. It's bad television. It's predictable, it's ugly, it's a scrum," Cowherd added. "The NBA is too 3-point reliant."
He's certainly right about that. Boston missed a boatload of threes over the final three games, refusing to deviate from their strategy no matter how bad things got.
Hoisting a lot of threes has been a staple of the Celtics' offense under Joe Mazzulla, but it's not fun to watch.
It's also not very effective, at least in the postseason. It's a big reason why Boston has won just one playoff series over the past two seasons combined.
It's clear something needs to change for the Celtics. Hopefully this can be a wake-up call for them.
