Colorado football ranks No. 107 out of 138 in the latest FBS rankings, indicating a challenging position among Power Four teams. The ranking follows the conclusion of spring camp and highlights a quiet offseason for the program.
Colorado football wrapped up spring camp a few weeks ago, and aside from a major quarterback commitment, it has been relatively quiet on the college football front.
But now that most teams have finished spring practices, our good friend at USA TODAY Sports, Paul Myerberg, released his first ranking of all 138 Football Bowl Subdivisions teams.
Unfortunately for Buff fans, the re-rank is not too high on the Buffaloes. Myerberg lists Colorado (No. 107 out of 138) among the weakest Power Four teams, along with Stanford (No. 106), Boston College (No. 111), and Purdue (No. 112).
The ranking is not surprising, considering the team is coming off a 3-9 season and once again has a roster filled with new names, not to mention a revamped coaching staff. However, there is room for optimism, given the players' talent and the coaches' resumes.
The No. 107 ranking is the lowest mark in the Big 12, even behind schools like Oklahoma State and UCF. The Buffs are surrounded by teams such as Michigan State (No. 105) and Stanford (No. 106). Texas Tech is the highest-ranked Big 12 team, coming in at No. 10.
Ohio State, Notre Dame, Texas, Georgia, and the reigning national champion Indiana Hoosiers round out the top 5.
Myerberg's ranking changes weekly throughout the season, with teams capable of jumping thirty spots after an upset. Point being, take the late spring edition with a grain of salt.
Colorado football is ranked No. 107 due to a lack of significant developments during the offseason and a relatively weak performance compared to other teams.
Teams ranked near Colorado include Stanford at No. 106, Boston College at No. 111, and Purdue at No. 112.
Being ranked No. 107 suggests that Colorado football faces challenges in improving its performance and competitiveness in the upcoming season.
