Country singer Parker McCollum faced criticism from Houston Texans' ownership for not attending a crucial playoff game, which they believe contributed to the team's loss against the New England Patriots. Texans' owner Hannah McNair humorously blamed McCollum for their defeat after he attended a previous game instead.
Did the Houston Texans have a good luck charm last season?
If so, maybe that's why the Texans lost in the divisional round against the New England Patriots.
Country music star and avid Texans fan Parker McCollum recently caught some fire from Texans' ownership after Hannah McNair made it known that the "good luck charm" of Houston was nowhere to be found in the second round of the postseason. McCollum had been in Pittsburgh for the team's dominant win over the Steelers in the wild-card round.
"I blame Parker McCollum for not coming to New England, because he was at the Steelers game," McNair told KPRC 2's Aaron Wilson at the NFL's annual league meeting last week out in Arizona. "I told him that when we saw him at the [Houston Livestock Show and] Rodeo. I said, 'you know youāre the reason that we lost that game.'"
Well, since the comments were made, McCollum made sure to apologize to not just the McNairs, but also the city of Houston.
McCollum, who grew up just outside of Houston, has been known for attending Texans' games when not on tour. Now the star must be ready to go when called upon in the postseason since the team is 0-3 in divisional round matchups since the hiring of DeMeco Ryans and drafting of Pro Bowl quarterback C.J. Stroud.
Houston should be a playoff team next season with the No. 1 defense returning to NRG Stadium, so McCollum might need to adjust his tour dates to be free come January for the second weekend of the month. If not, fans might not be coming to his concerts anytime soon, since he'll be Public Enemy No. 1 in the franchise's downfall.
