Cowboys, Commanders, Chiefs linked to same $3 million Cardinals Pro Bowl RB

“James Conner, Alvin Kamara, and Trey Benson need new homes,” ESPN’s Mike Clay wrote on X/Twitter last Wednesday. “I could see fits with the following teams: Commanders, (Indianapolis) Colts, Cowboys, (Cincinnati) Bengals, (Green Bay) Packers, Chiefs, and (Cleveland) Browns.”

Considering the Cowboys need to find a backup running back to assist Javonte Williams, the Commanders didn’t have a single 1,000-yard rusher a season ago, and Patrick Mahomes nearly rushed for more yards than Isiah Pacheco despite his unimpressive 4.80-second 40-yard dash time, it makes sense why Clay is under the impression that the three franchises should be interested in trading for Conner.

Dallas already possesses a dynamic duo at wide receiver with CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, so why not use that same blueprint to help them boast one of the most formidable rushing attacks in the league?

Although Connor suffered a season-ending foot injury during Week 3 of the 2025-26 campaign, he underwent successful surgery and should be good to go by the time the new season arrives. James has recorded 3763 rushing yards, 1,292 receiving yards, and 48 total touchdowns in his first five seasons with the Cardinals.

If the Cowboys don’t like their chances of landing Kamara and aren’t intrigued by Benson’s skill set, they should turn their attention to Connor on the RB trade market.
