Cristiano Ronaldo and Al-Nassr were denied the Saudi Pro League title in devastating fashion following a catastrophic goalkeeping error from Bento deep into stoppage time. Victory against Al-Hilal in the Capital Derby would have delivered Ronaldo's side their first championship since 2019, placing them out of reach of their title challengers.
Al-Nassr were in front heading into added time thanks to Mohamed Simakan's first-half goal, with Jorge Jesus' men on the brink of ending their seven-year trophy drought. During the frantic final moments of the contest, tensions erupted on the touchline between the two sides.
A touchline brawl broke out involving Al-Hilal defender Theo Hernandez, with both benches becoming involved and Jesus' assistant coach being sent off, as per The Mirror.

The hosts remained ahead at this point, and as Al-Hilal pushed forward for an equalizer, they launched a long throw into the penalty area. However, Bento rushed out to punch the ball clear but misjudged it entirely.
The Brazilian goalkeeper collided with his own defender, and the ball dropped into the back of the net in the 99th minute. The television cameras panned to Ronaldo on the substitutes' bench, having been substituted in the 83rd minute. The Manchester United and Real Madrid legend could not hide his disappointment as he marched down the tunnel after the final whistle. It means his pursuit of a league title in Saudi Arabia continues since joining the club in 2023.
Victory would have given Al-Nassr an insurmountable seven-point lead at the top, but the draw against Al-Hilal leaves the visitors sitting five points behind, though with a game in hand over their title rivals.
The championship battle could go right to the final whistle when Al-Nassr meet Damac, while Al-Hilal have a match against Neom this weekend before a clash with Al-Fayha on the final day of the season.

Despite his disappointment at the late error, Ronaldo turned to social media to deliver a rallying message after the game. The Portuguese legend said: "The dream is close. Heads up, we have one more step to take! Thank you all for the amazing support tonight!"
Ronaldo has yet to claim Saudi Arabia's most prestigious trophy since his move to Al-Nassr, and the absence of silverware has drawn significant scrutiny. He was unable to overcome his former Real Madrid colleague Karim Benzema, who secured the title with Al-Ittihad 12 months ago.
It represented the first time the two legends have met since the French striker's transfer to Al-Hilal - a move that prompted Ronaldo to down tools in protest against the club's owners, the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund.
The 41-year-old was reportedly frustrated with the club's transfer business compared to their top-flight competitors, who receive backing from the same fund.
Following his comeback, Ronaldo led Al-Nassr to 17 wins in 19 games, scoring 26 Saudi Pro League goals in the process.
