Michigan football saw two outgoing players selected in the second round of the 2026 NFL draft, but neither was edge rusher Jaishawn Barham. It hadn't been a surprise that his compatriot, Derrick Moore, was picked ahead of him, but it was something of a shock that tight end Marlin Klein ended up being a day two selection.
Barham had to wait, perhaps a little longer than he anticipated. But altogether, not so long as to make it to the weekend.
Having lasted into the third round, the linebacker-edge rusher ended up being selected by a franchise that seems to pick Wolverines every other draft. The Dallas Cowboys ended up selecting him with the No. 92 pick overall.
Like Derrick Moore, Barham hailed from Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy. But unlike Moore, he started his career at Maryland, where he spent two years as a linebacker. He transferred to Michigan and quickly became a starting linebacker in 2024. In 2025, he reprised that role to start the year, but in Week 3, he transitioned mostly to the edge, where his athleticism allowed him to rush the quarterback.
As noted, Barham is the third Wolverine off the board, with defensive tackle Rayshaun Benny expected to likely be the next selection.
