Daylen Lile Heating Up for Washington Nationals
With all the talk of CJ Abrams and James Wood anchoring the top of the Washington Nationals lineup, outfielder Daylen Lile has quietly found himself on a tear.
The left handed hitter is now up to three home runs in his last two games, marking his first since belting his third of the season against the Atlanta Braves back on April 23.
Through two games against the Cincinnati Reds, Lile is also 5-of-9 with seven RBIs to go with his three home runs.
The highlight came on Tuesday after leading off the fourth inning with a 415 foot solo shot that lifted the Nationals to an early 3-0 lead before ultimately taking game one, 10-4. The next inning, Lile cleaned up the bases after his 429 foot blast over the right field wall brought both Brady House and Jacob Young in for a three-run home run, putting the game out of reach before the Nationals added three insurance runs over the final two innings.
The two-home run game marked the first of Lile's career with a chance to do it in front of a big group of family and friends given he grew up just 90 minutes away in Louisville, Kentucky.
"It means so much. I just feel so loved and cared just from my hometown and just the people that along the way grow into the person that I am, it's just awesome," Lile said after Tuesday's win.

Yet Lile's faithful family and friends were treated again on Wednesday night after Lile broke out the bats again with his first hit of the night driving in the Nationals' first run before delivering a two-run home run in the top of the tenth inning, delivering the game-winning hit that cemented the Nationals' second consecutive win.
With Washington entering Thursday with a chance to sweep and move to .500 over, Lile now enters the finale hitting .269 with a .776 OPS. Lile has also recorded just two strikeouts over his last five games.
"Obviously his family, that goes such a long way, such a cool moment for him, for his family to experience that," Butera said after Wednesday's win. "And then to see his teammates, how happy they were for him too."
