After the program had two head coaches over its first 64 years, the Crusaders will have their second coach in three seasons this fall.
John Oberg was the first head football coach in Delsea history, guiding the team to 230 wins from 1960-1993. His next-door neighbor Sal Marchese replaced the legendary coach and built his own legacy in the position, leading Delsea to 249 wins over the next 31 years, including 11 sectional championship and the program’s first state title.
Volpe was an assistant coach under Marchese before landing the top job in 2024. He was also an assistant coach at Vineland, his alma mater.
Delsea is scheduled to begin its season against Vineland in Week 0 on Aug. 27.
