Denzel Boston to NY Giants at No. 25 in SB Nation Writer’s Mock Draft

The SB Nation Writer’s Mock Draft is rolling toward its conclusion. If you remember, I presciently traded Dexter Lawrence to the Chicago Bears for the 25th pick in the SBN mock and a 2027 second-round pick, getting that done well before the Giants sent the disgruntled defensive tackle to the Cincinnati Bengals for the 10th pick in this year’s draft.

So, what did I do with the 25th pick?

I have to be honest that I was hoping Ohio State defensive tackle Kayden McDonald was available. I figured that would be a nice way to start the reconstruction of the Lawrence-less line. He was not.

Having taken Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles at No. 5, my next option was to add a receiving weapon for quarterback Jaxson Dart. There were several here, including KC Concepcion and Omar Cooper.

I chose wide receiver Denzel Boston to give Dart a big-bodied, physical, 50-50 catch receiver to complement Malik Nabers.

I like this pick for the Giants because it is a completely new skillset added to the wide receiver room that they did not have entering the draft. There’s a lot of speed in that room for Dart to throw to but Malik Nabers (coming off a torn ACL) is the only player with the chops to go up and consistently make plays in the end zone. Boston gives New York another set of strong hands attached to a big body who knows how to use it when fighting through contact.
