What a perfect 2026 NFL Draft would look like for the Chicago Bears
The Detroit Lions have identified key positional needs ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft, with EDGE and Offensive Tackle as top priorities. Other significant needs include Tight End, Cornerback, and Safety.
Previously, I did a roster evaluation of the Lions Defensive Positional Needs and Lions Offensive Positional Needs.
Here, I consolidate the Detroit Lions Full Team Positional Needs heading into the 2026 NFL Draft.
While OT and EDGE are the biggest needs, what might be a bit surprising is that safety, CB, and TE are only a tick behind. This means we shouldn’t be surprised if any of those five positions are taken in the 1st or 2nd round.
The top positional needs for the Detroit Lions are EDGE and Offensive Tackle, both rated at 7/10.
The Lions need to draft 5 EDGE players, 5 Offensive Tackles, 2 Tight Ends, 3 Cornerbacks, and 1 Safety, among others.
The medical evaluations indicate additional needs, such as 2 medical concerns for EDGE and Offensive Tackle, and 4 for Tight End.

As you can see, the TE, CB, and OT positions have shot up in need in the past year. This is a good example of how quickly team needs can change, and it validates the BPA (best player available) drafting philosophy.
