Bryant Faces Backlash From Some Social Media Users For His Stance On Azzi Fudd

Fudd was defended by several users, who slammed the reporter for crossing what they believed was a personal boundary.

Other users blasted Bryant personally, with one writing, “Don’t be a hypocrite, Dez. We know d-mn well you don’t want anyone in your personal business. Not then or now.”

Another user brought up Bryant’s 2012 arrest, which stemmed from an alleged assault between him and his mother. In a 911 phone call, Bryant’s mother seemed to claim she was the victim of ongoing abuse.

“I can’t keep letting him do this,” Bryant’s mother said to 9-1-1 operators. “I can’t keep letting him do me like this. I’m tired. I’m going to put an end to it today. I’m going to put an end to it today. I’m tired.”

Bryant fired back at the netizen who mentioned his past, writing, “I answered [that question] a million and one times fat face h-e. F-ck you and your homegirl. … You should’ve sat this one out.”

His response didn’t stop another user from sharing a similar comment. “Imagine sitting there at your press conference and they ask about you whipping up on your momma.”

Azzi Fudd Will Play With Bueckers Again

Selected first at the 2026 WNBA Draft, Fudd will be reunited with Bueckers on the hardwood this season in Dallas. The pair first met in 2017 at a USA Basketball camp before joining forces at UConn and winning a championship together in April 2025.

They confirmed their relationship shortly after, and during an episode of Instagram’s “Close Friends Only” podcast on August 14, Fudd and Bueckers opened up about their dynamic.

“She’s more outgoing; I’m quieter. She’s a little more feisty; I’m a little more calm and even-keeled,” Fudd told Glamour. “It’s not always natural, but we can adapt and be what the other person needs in that moment.”

Fudd And Buckers ‘Clicked’ Almost Instantly

Fudd went on to say that her connection with Bueckers was sort of instantaneous, saying the two “clicked when we met.”

“I feel like we really clicked when we met,” she added. “I don’t remember talking to you at all off the court, but I remember the plane ride home to Minnesota talking to you and really liking you and then that’s when I thought, like, our personality off the court, our personalities clicked.”

Bueckers Gave Fudd Advice Before The Draft

During an interview with PEOPLE, Fudd shared even more about her relationship with Bueckers, including the advice she gave her before the big day.

“I feel like the advice has mostly been a combination of, one, soak this whole weekend in. You know, it only happens once, it’s your moment, so really take it all in,” Fudd said. “Try to take notes, try to learn, try to just enjoy the moment, and then going forward, you know, be confident, stay true to yourself, do what got you drafted, and also enjoy that moment as well.”
