The Los Angeles Dodgers are in a strong position to make a significant trade with the New York Mets, leveraging their top farm system. However, the Mets should be cautious about trading with the Dodgers due to potential long-term implications.

Dodgers could break baseball by trading with Mets, but New York shouldn’t trade with Los Angeles originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
As I've said over the past few years, the Los Angeles Dodgers are very scary because, at any moment, Andrew Friedman can dip into his farm system and make a blockbuster deal. The Dodgers have one of the best farm systems in baseball, and while some teams might not want to trade some of their top players to Los Angeles, if a team has the best return, that's often where a star player goes.
There's a lot to think about for a team like the New York Mets when potentially trading with Los Angeles, but if New York believes it has an opportunity to get better in the future because of some of the Dodgers prospects, anything is possible.
That's why the latest idea of the Dodgers trading for Freddy Peralta really wouldn't be the craziest idea. In fact, it makes a lot of sense if the Dodgers were to be interested because they probably believe they can sign him at the end of the year or extend him before he reaches free agency.
“This is the nightmare scenario, but with still on the IL — and with Rōki Sasaki and both struggling immensely — there's incentive for the Dodgers to be aggressive. And at $8 million, Peralta hardly breaks the bank for baseball's richest team.
The Dodgers are considering a trade for Freddy Peralta, which could enhance their roster.
The Mets should be cautious as trading with the Dodgers could lead to unfavorable long-term consequences.
The Dodgers' strong farm system gives them leverage in trade negotiations, making them a formidable trading partner.

“The Dodgers would be in prime position to re-sign Peralta, and maybe to target Tarik Skubal while they're at it. This is the dystopian hellscape the other 29 MLB teams have created with their financial reservations. In addition to an endless revenue stream, the Dodgers are equipped with arguably the deepest farm system in baseball. They can make it well worth the Mets' while to ship Peralta to the west coast,” Christopher Kline of FanSided wrote.
A lot of this is going to come down to what the Mets can get on the open market. If they have a comparable trade offer on the table, not sending Peralta to Los Angeles would make sense. Unfortunately, the Dodgers might be very aggressive and do whatever it takes to land a player of his caliber.
