The Triple-A Oklahoma City Comets released third baseman Nick Senzel on Monday following a subpar start to the season.
Senzel signed a minor league deal with the Dodgers midway through the 2025 season, and quickly moved up to Triple-A Oklahoma City after less than a week with Double-A Tulsa. He posted a .749 OPS through 99 games across both levels, hitting 12 homers and driving in 66 runs in the process.
He remained with the team heading into the 2026 season, and earned a non-roster invitation to spring training this year.
The infielder had a fantastic showing in spring training, posting a 1.062 OPS through 20 games with the Los Angeles Dodgers during the preseason. He had three homers and 11 RBIs in the Cactus League, and walked more times than he struck out while in camp.
Senzel didn’t end up making the roster, though, and started 2026 in Triple-A. He couldn’t carry his form from spring over to the Pacific Coast League, though, as he had just a .545 OPS through 23 games.
The Dodgers released Nick Senzel due to his subpar performance at the start of the 2026 season.
Before his release, Nick Senzel had a .749 OPS with 12 home runs and 66 RBIs over 99 games in the previous season.
A non-roster invitation allows players not on the 40-man roster to participate in spring training, giving them a chance to compete for a spot on the team.

Senzel, the No. 2 overall pick by the Cincinnati Reds in 2016, made his MLB debut in 2019. He stuck with the Reds from 2019 to 2023, playing 100 games or more three times in that five-year stretch.
He had a -1.7 bWAR during those five years, though, posting a .671 OPS through 377 games with the organization which drafted him. After a middling 2023 season where he struggled with injury and took a trip down to the minors, Senzel elected free agency.
The Washington Nationals took a chance on the former first-rounder, signing him to a big-league contract in Dec. 2023. He didn’t improve much in his new home, though, and had a .663 OPS throw 64 games with the Nationals. They released him in July 2024.
His most recent stop in the majors came with the historically bad 2024 Chicago White Sox, who signed him for 10 games before designating him for assignment.
Now 30, Senzel will have to start from scratch with a new organization as he looks for a way to return to MLB.
