The Miami Dolphins have been gutting their roster this offseason, and they enter the 2026 NFL Draft with needs littered across the roster.
Offensively, only center and running back are likely not needed. But, defensively, essentially every position could use some help, especially cornerback.
With such a need, James Reber for NFL.com linked the Dolphins to their "ideal" but also realistic option with the 30th overall pick in Round 1. That player is Tennessee Volunteers cornerback Colton Hood, who'd be a great fit for Jeff Hafley's defense.
Dolphins linked to 'ideal' CB in Tennessee's Colton Hood
"They can address one of those vacancies with their second pick of the opening round, where Hood may well be available," Reber writes. "Hood's assertiveness makes him the type of disruptor near the line of scrimmage that Jeff Hafley was sorely missing in Green Bay, while his impressive speed allows him to recover on deep routes."
The Dolphins could use help at wide receiver, edge rusher, safety, offensive line, and many other spots. But, cornerback might be one of their bigger needs.
It was a huge issue last season, and the Dolphins did not adequately address it in the draft, free agency, or in trades. But, this offseason, during the draft, the Dolphins could resolve one of their CB spots with the 30th pick and Hood.

The Tennessee cornerback recorded one interception and one forced fumble to go with eight passes defended this past season. He looked the part of a starting cornerback in the NFL, and he very well could make it to the Dolphins' pick.
Hafley's defense needs cornerback help, and Hood might be the ideal option for Miami in this year's draft. With the Seattle Seahawks, picking 32nd overall, being one of Hood's top landing spots, the Dolphins might have a good chance of landing the Volunteers' CB.
Fellow Tennessee CB Jermod McCoy would be an intriguing option as well, but he's more of an option at No. 11 rather than No. 30. Down the board in Round 1, Hood might be the Dolphins' best option at cornerback in this year's draft class.
