Doncaster Rovers have bought their Cantley Park training ground from the City of Doncaster Council.
According to council documents, the League One side purchased the freehold of the 15-acre site for an undisclosed fee, although it was stated the agreed sale price was less than £1m.
Previously, the club had a 99-year lease with the local authority for the facility, known as the Club Doncaster Elite Performance Centre, which it paid rent for.
In addition to the purchase price, Rovers are also required to reimburse the council's surveyors fees and legal fees relating to the sale.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the club have also agreed to make "an ongoing contribution of the maintenance and repair costs for the access road serving the site".
Rovers received planning permission in February 2025 for the redevelopment of the Elite Performance Centre.
The plans included an extension of the existing building to house a new gymnasium and medical facilities, with physiotherapy and consultation rooms also part of the project.
Work began on the site in July 2025.
The council's decision documents said the sale of the site constituted a loss of public open space but said councillors for the area, Nick Allen, Chris Kidgers and David Carroll, had been consulted but raised no objections.
