Duke's basketball team ranked second in TV viewership this season, attracting 2,965,000 viewers, just behind Michigan's 3,353,000. The team's strong performance, including a 35-3 record and top seed in the NCAA Tournament, contributed to its popularity.
When Duke takes the basketball court, there will always be millions of eyes around the nation tuning in to either cheer for or root against the Blue Devils, as it has become one of the top programs of all-time.
That was no different this past year as Jon Scheyerâs squad went 35-3, spent a part of the season at No. 1 and were the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament after sweeping the ACC regular season and tournament titles. In fact, no team outside of national champion Michigan was watched more than the Blue Devils.
According to Nielsen, Dukeâs games were watched by 2,965,000 viewers this season, trailing the Wolverines 3,353,000 viewers for the year. And three of the top five teams that were watched this season made the Final Four, with Illinois and UConn joining Michigan.
While Duke is always a big draw, the play of Cameron Boozer, the 2025-26 Wooden Award and Naismith Player of the Year Award winner (among other awards), was a large part of the viewershipâs interest in the Blue Devils.
