A.J. Brown remains with the Philadelphia Eagles despite ongoing trade rumors involving the New England Patriots. Eagles GM Howie Roseman has indicated that the asking price for Brown is currently too high for the Patriots.
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown has been the center of plenty of New England Patriots trade rumors this offseason, but as of right now, he seems to be staying put.
There have been plenty of reports suggesting the Patriots and Eagles have discussed a trade involving Brown, but the Eagles are asking for too much for the Patriots' taste. On Monday, Eliot Wolf was asked about a potential A.J. Brown trade and noted that he is open to any moves that could help the team.
"As far as players on other teams, I'm going to keep the door open to anything that we think may improve our roster, whether that's the player you mentioned or other players," Wolf said in a press conference on Monday.
On Tuesday, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman was asked about potentially trading Brown, and he delivered a blunt message that is consistent with what he has said all offseason.
"A.J. Brown is an Eagle," Roseman noted.
Roseman noted earlier in the offseason that everything is on the table and is keeping all conversations close to the vest. Before delivering his statement, he even asked the reporter what the chances were that he would answer that question any differently than he had been.
Throughout the entire offseason, the Eagles have not come out and say that they are not trading Brown. Instead, they have made statements like the one Roseman made on Tuesday, acknowledging that right now he is a member of their team. However, with the draft coming up, they could revisit the idea of trading him, or conversations could pick up.
Brown has already been traded on draft day once in his career. It would not be surprising to see him moved again, and the Patriots would seem to be the favorite to land him. However, as of right now, Roseman's public-facing comment is that he is a member of their team.
