The Philadelphia Eagles’ schedule is officially here, which means football fans everywhere are already doing the annual and wildly unreliable exercise of assigning wins and losses months before meaningful football begins. You know the drill. Circle revenge games. Debate primetime matchups. Convince yourself that the schedule is either impossibly unfair or suspiciously manageable. It's also important to print the schedule and scribble Ws and Ls next to every game. Do your best to make as many bold predictions as possible. Repeat until training camp. Somewhere between the overreactions lives a reasonable truth.

League offices and their schedule-makers must stay true to form. Do the Eagles no favors. There are five 1:00 pm games. It's going to be an emotional and physical grind, but at least there are back-to-back home games this year.

Did you notice something? Gauntlets come early, and they arrive later on. Still, Philadelphia appears to have a real opportunity in the middle of their 2026 campaign.

Part of the Eagles' schedule opens a massive window

Yes, there are difficult stretches. There always are. The brutal early three-game test (Weeks 3, 4, and 5) and a nasty late-season gauntlet (Weeks 15, 16, and 17) will demand plenty from Nick Sirianni's team. That much has already been established. Look beyond those bookends, however, and something far more interesting emerges.

From Weeks 6 through 14, Philadelphia may have an opportunity to do serious damage. During that stretch, only two games come against teams that reached the postseason last year: the Carolina Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers. Even that deserves contextual analysis. Carolina technically qualifies after winning the NFC South, though few would describe that division crown as overwhelming dominance. Yes, the Panthers have historically made life uncomfortable for Philadelphia, because for whatever reason, Eagles-Panthers games often feel weirder than they should.

Still, if asked today, most observers would likely favor Philadelphia. The same logic applies to Pittsburgh. The Steelers are always physical, always dangerous, and never particularly enjoyable to play. Still, on paper, the Eagles should feel confident there, too. This is where contenders separate themselves. The rest of that stretch includes all three NFC East rivals, plus meetings with the Arizona Cardinals and Indianapolis Colts. Divisional games are chaotic by nature. Nobody should assume anything there. Still, compared to the schedule's more brutal stretches, this portion feels manageable, and that matters.

Championship hopefuls do not simply survive favorable stretches. They capitalize on them. Philadelphia's bye lands in Week 10, giving the Eagles a natural reset in the middle of this stretch as well, but if the Eagles are serious about making another deep postseason push, this is the portion of the schedule where they need to pile up wins, create NFC breathing room, and position themselves for the storm waiting later in the year.

We'll see what happens, eventually. Expect some surprises, but no one should apologize for expecting a lot out of this roster and this football team.
