The latest name to surface belongs to Dallen Bentley, a speedy Third-Team All-Big 12 selection who has reportedly spoken with 24 NFL teams since his Pro Day, including Philadelphia.

That level of interest tells a story. Bentley may not be viewed as a top-tier prospect, but he’s firmly in the conversation as a Day 2 or Day 3 option. Pro Football Focus ranks him as the ninth-best tight end in the class and No. 142 overall, a range that aligns with where teams begin looking for developmental contributors rather than immediate starters.

His profile fits that mold. Bentley produced as a receiving option in 2025, showing the ability to contribute in the passing game. The question, as noted by evaluators, is whether his athletic ceiling is high enough to translate consistently at the next level. That places added importance on his route running, timing, and feel for space, areas where he’ll need to win if he’s going to stick.

For the Eagles, this is about more than one player.

Dallas Goedert and Grant Calcaterra return on short-term deals, and while the depth chart includes several familiar names, it’s heavy on bodies and light on long-term answers. That’s a dangerous combination at a position that has traditionally played a key role in Philadelphia’s offense.

So, the evaluation continues. Bentley may not be the headline addition fans are expecting (or hoping for), but he represents something just as important: another option in a draft class filled with them.
