Rumors suggest the Philadelphia Eagles might consider selecting a quarterback in the NFL Draft, despite Jalen Hurts being their current franchise quarterback. This speculation arises even though Hurts had a challenging season, leading to discussions about potential options for the team's future.

There have been some strange rumors that the Philadelphia Eagles could look to move on from Jalen Hurts. On the surface, it doesn't seem to make too much sense. While Hurts didn't have his best season a year ago, the Eagles also have a franchise quarterback, and unless they plan on moving on from him for another franchise quarterback who they believe would be better, there probably isn't much of a reason to do this.
At the end of the day, finding a good quarterback is a lot easier said than done, and even if some Eagles fans don't love Hurts, he certainly is not a bad player by any means.
Despite that reality, some seem to think the Eagles could go with a quarterback in the first round, whether they want to or not. That doesn't mean the Eagles would be looking to replace Hurts necessarily, but it could give them some options if they want to go a few different ways.
“R-E-L-A-X. While there has been no shortage of drama surrounding the Eagles and QB Jalen Hurts , I'm not advocating for drafting a replacement here, although Philly has had a habit of accumulating quarterbacks and then acquiring value by moving them down the line.
“This, however, feels like a potential landing area for Simpson via trade, especially if a team believes the Browns could be looking to select the Alabama product with their second first-round pick at 24. And instead of trying to predict which QB-needy organization will be desperate enough to make this move, I'm keeping the Eagles as a placeholder in this mock to highlight the tantalizing leverage they could hold when their turn comes around -- setting Howie Roseman up perfectly to work some of his customary wheeler-dealer magic,” Rhett Lewis of NFL.com wrote.
The idea of drafting Ty Simpson would be fun in the sense of a quarterback competition in Philadelphia, but the harsh reality here is that Hurts is the quarterback, and barring some injury or something drastic happening, there's not a chance the Eagles are going to bring in a rookie to win a job over him. As touched on, it's possible the Eagles could move out of that spot, but that wouldn't do much good.
