Five-star cornerback John Meredith III will take an official visit to the Texas Longhorns from June 6-7, 2026. He is also considering visits to Texas A&M, Ohio State, and Alabama this month.
As the Longhorns look to add to their 2027 class, they received encouraging news on the recruiting front on Wednesday. Five-star recruit John Meredith III committed to an official visit with the Longhorns. The North Cowley High star will be in Austin June sixth through the seventh. That will give head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff another chance to show Meredith what his future at Texas could hold. While Sarkisian will get a chance to make his pitch, Texas isn't the only school Meredith has his eyes on. He also has official visits set up with Texas A&M and Ohio State in June. At the end of May, he is set to make the trip to Tuscaloosa to visit Alabama.

— John Burrows (@JohnBurrowsCFB) April 29, 2026 The heavy interest in Meredith comes as no surprise, given how he is viewed by scouts. Currently, the Texas native is ranked by 247Sports as the top cornerback from the Lone Star State. They also rank him as the fifth-best player at his position in the nation. Adding Meredith to the mix would give the Longhorns 2027 class a massive boost. Over the last few months, Meredith has made headlines as his stock has been on the rise. He participated in the Under Armour All-America Game and made his presence felt. Against some of the best players in the country, Meredith recorded one tackle and one interception. — Jordan Scruggs (@JScruggs247) April 19, 2026 At the moment, the Longhorns have a top-15 recruiting class full of potential. They have secured commitments from four-star recruits Easton Royal, Cameron Hall, Derwin Fields, and Karnell James. They will be joined by three-star recruits Keyon Hemphill-Woods, JT Geraci, Cade Haug, Jackson Cook, and TY Knutson. That list should continue to grow over the next few weeks. Regardless of what Meredith decides it is a good sign for Texas that he is willing to make another trip to the Forty Acres. *This article originally appeared on Longhorns Wire: *
