English winger willing to extend contract for five years with same salary in order to stay at Barcelona

With the La Liga title secured, Barcelona’s attention has now shifted to assembling the squad for the 2026-27 season, and one of the most pressing questions involves the future of Marcus Rashford.

Hansi Flick has already given his approval for the Englishman to stay, and the sporting management are keen to keep him. But the financial terms of any permanent deal are proving complicated.

Rashford’s proposal to make it work

According to Mundo Deportivo, Rashford has come up with a creative solution to bridge the gap between what Barcelona can afford and what Manchester United are demanding.

The Englishman is willing to extend his contract from three years to five seasons, running until 2032, at the same reduced salary he had already agreed to.

The logic is straightforward – spreading the €30 million transfer fee across five years rather than three would significantly lower the annual amortisation cost for Barcelona.

This would make the deal more financially viable under the club’s fair play restrictions.
