Clemson football is focusing on replacing key players after a historic NFL Draft. Brayden Jacobs is expected to step up as the new left tackle following Blake Miller's departure.
Clemson football is coming off a historic NFL Draft run, and now the focus shifts to whatâs next as several key pieces move on.
ESPN recently discussed who will be replacing these first round picks on their former college teams, with Clemson having two names to make up for.
On the offensive line, the biggest question is at left tackle after Blake Millerâs departure. Instead of turning to the portal, Dabo Swinney is sticking with what Clemson has built internally. That puts the spotlight on Brayden Jacobs, a massive lineman who has already seen limited action. He started four games last season and showed enough to suggest he can handle a bigger role moving forward. With more experience and a full offseason in the program, Clemson believes heâs ready to take that next step.
The challenge up front wonât just be replacing one player. The Tigers are expected to roll out multiple new starters, so how quickly that group comes together will matter. Even so, thereâs confidence in the overall talent level, especially with how well Clemson has recruited the position in recent years.
Defensive tackle brings a different kind of concern. Replacing Peter Woods isnât just about production, itâs about presence. He was the type of player offenses had to account for on every snap, even if it didnât always show up in the box score. With Woods and DeMonte Capehart both gone, Clemson will be working with an entirely new interior group.
That opens the door for Amare Adams. The former five-star came in with a lot of hype and saw limited action as a freshman, but the tools are there for him to become a major factor. Clemson will likely build around him as he steps into a much larger role.
There are other names in the mix as well. Vic Burley returns after being part of the rotation last season, and a couple of additions, including Markus Strong and Andy Burburija, should compete for snaps. Itâs a fresh group, but not one lacking options.

Clemson will need to integrate multiple new starters on the offensive line, which will require them to come together quickly for success.

Looking beyond the trenches, T.J. Moore is already starting to get national recognition. Heâs been productive early in his career and continues to show why he was so highly rated coming out of high school. With his size and ability to win in different spots, heâs expected to be a key part of Clemsonâs offense again this season.
Clemson has plenty to replace, especially up front, but this isnât a roster scrambling for answers. The next group has been waiting for its turn, and now itâs here.
