As first reported by ESPN's Pete Thamel, former Cincinnati Bearcats quarterback Brendan Sorsby, now with the Texas Tech Red Raiders, has entered a facility for treatment of a gambling addiction.
The report says that while Sorsby was at Indiana in 2022, prior to UC, he bet on the Hoosiers to win. He only played in one game that season.

"We love Brendan and support his decision to seek professional help," Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire said in a statement. "Taking this step requires courage, and our primary focus is on him as a person. Our program is behind Brendan as he prioritizes his health."
When Sorsby departed UC via the transfer portal, he instantly became the most sought-after quarterback, eventually coming to oil-rich Texas Tech. It's been estimated that he received in excess of $4 million to go to Texas Tech.
Brendan Sorsby sought treatment after reportedly betting on the Indiana Hoosiers while he was a player there in 2022.
Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire expressed support for Sorsby, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing his health.
Brendan Sorsby is currently taking a leave of absence from the Texas Tech football team to focus on his treatment.
