Ex-West Ham striker Michail Antonio facing driving ban for failing to name speeding Lamborghini driver

Prosecutor Lucy Allen told magistrates: "There has been no response received to that notice. We offer no evidence in relation to the speeding offence."

Magistrates proceeded to convict Antonio of failing to provide information on April 4 last year. The Jamaica international was not legally represented at the hearing, and the court was informed he had provided no details of his income.

In a separate legal matter, Antonio is accused of failing to respond to the Metropolitan Police regarding an allegation of driving without due care and attention in central London.

Police allege that the footballer, as the registered keeper of a Lamborghini Urus, was involved in an incident on Pall Mall at 12.38am on November 5 last year.

He was written to by the Met and asked to identify the driver but allegedly failed to respond, leading to a criminal prosecution. Court papers do not specify the nature of the alleged incident on Pall Mall.

Antonio has entered a not guilty plea to this charge, stating: "The vehicle was on hire at the time of contravention. I have the hire agreement as proof."

This case has been adjourned for a public hearing on July 7 at Bexley Magistrates’ Court.

Antonio has previously spoken about his driving history, telling the BBC in January last year that he had been given "another chance at life" after the Epping Forest Ferrari crash, which left him "close to dying".

He also recounted crashing a Lamborghini Huracan into a bin shed while dressed as a snowman on Christmas Day 2019, attributing it to a "slippery road" in London.
