It's been a long time since Atlanta Falcons fans had a real reason to get excited about a new season. This year may be an exception to the rule, as they have brought in a new head coach with a proven track record who should be able to get more out of this (sort-of) talented group than his predecessor.
If you need specifics, look no further than the bright, shining talent in their backfield that is Bijan Robinson - who is arguably the best athlete on the roster.
Robinson is more than that, though and at least one analyst believes he's the best running back in football. Over at CBS Sports Bryan DeArdo has named Robinson the best reason to be optimistic about the Falcons and also called him the best running back in the league. He includes a positive note on Kevin Stefanski.
"If nothing else,Ā FalconsĀ fans have the luxury of watching a generational talent every week. Robinson made a strong case last season to be regarded as the NFL's best running back... Robinson's new coach, Kevin Stefanski, comes to Atlanta after a six-year tenure with theĀ Browns,Ā which included two playoff berths and the franchise's first playoff win since 1994."
Robinson will have to prove he's better than the likes of Derrick Henry, Christian McCaffrey and Saqon Barkley, but he has more than enough skill to ascend to an undisputed RB1 position.
Most of all, Robinson will no longer be handicapped by having to split reps with Tyler Allgeier, who averaged 169 carries a year during his time in Atlanta and scored 18 rushing touchdowns in four seasons, many of them of the vultured variety. Allgeier is now in Arizona, where he'll be forced to play behind No. 3 overall pick Jeremiyah Love - leaving Robinson free to carry a true superstar bellcow workload for the first time in his NFL career.
Stefanski's Cleveland Browns were usually among the league's best rushing teams - and if he can get the Falcons out to more early leads that should translate into more than enough opportunities for Robinson and show he's the best back on the planet.
Bijan Robinson was named the best running back due to his impressive performance last season, showcasing his generational talent.
Kevin Stefanski, the new head coach, is expected to enhance Robinson's performance based on his successful track record with the Browns.
Robinson's talent raises expectations for Falcons fans, providing them with a reason for optimism heading into the new season.
