Figures in the game still surprised Tottenham Hotspur did not go all in for Andoni Iraola
He made the claim in his âInside Footballâ bi-weekly newsletter on Monday evening and the Cherries have announced today that the 43-year-old is leaving at the end of the season.
The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium club were linked with Iraola a year ago when they first contemplated parting ways with Ange Postecoglou.
However, Spurs went for Thomas Frank and have hired two managers afterwards.
The North London club brought in Roberto De Zerbi last month after parting ways with Igor Tudor and will hope the Italian can keep them up.
They lost 1-0 to Sunderland in their first game under him and might need to win four or five of their remaining six games and also hope their relegation rivals drop points to have a chance of survival.
De Zerbi will be Tottenhamâs boss next season no matter what division they are playing in, but would their fortunes have been different had they gone all in for Iraola last summer?
The Spaniard moved to the Premier League from Rayo Vallecano in 2023 and has impressed since, helping the Cherries to a 12th-place finish at the end of his debut campaign.
They ended ninth in the league table last term and are currently 11th, seven points off the top-five.
Spurs would never know what might have been with Iraola in their dugout and will now hope their latest managerial decision ends up being a smart choice.
Tottenham are back in action on Saturday when they host Brighton & Hove Albion before games against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Aston Villa, Leeds United, Chelsea and Everton.
