The 2025-26 season is in the books for the Philadelphia 76ers, which means it is the time to look back on the season that was for each player. The Sixers finished 45-37 and as the No. 7 seed for the Eastern Conference playoffs before upsetting the Boston Celtics in Round 1 and falling to the New York Knicks in Round 2. They had to battle through a tough season injury-wise, but there were some good moments for everybody on the roster.
This series begins with Joel Embiid who was limited once again by injuries. Embiid played 38 games in the 2025-26 season, but to his credit, he was able to work on his knee injury and find a way to overcome that problem. He was limited mainly by things he just couldn't control--like an oblique strain as well as an emergency appendectomy--and he worked hard to be there for Philadelphia in the playoffs.

Embiid spent his 2025 offseason recovering from a major left knee surgery he had to undergo in April after the 2024-25 season ended. The big fella had his moments as he hit at least 30 points 14 different times and he scored a season-high 40 points in a Jan. 31 win over the New Orleans Pelicans. He, obviously, wasn't the same dominant player he has been in the past, but the 2023 MVP winner showed flashes of brilliance as he worked his way back from the injury.
Even in the playoffs after returning quickly from the April 9 appendectomy. He averaged 24.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 5.4 assists while shooting 46% from the floor. He struggled on his 3-point shot at just 17.9% in the seven games he played, but his averages were extremely impressive and he had big moments. He had 33 points in the Game 5 win over the Boston Celtics and then had 34 in the Game 7 win to eliminate Boston. A lot of credit goes to Embiid for fighting through the injuries and adversity to be there for the Sixers.
For Embiid himself, this is a successful season. The big fella was able to rally and be available for Philadelphia despite all of the injuries he's had to handle and deal with, but the Sixers were unable to get over the hump once again as they fell in Round 2 for the sixth time in his career. Unfortunately, injuries once again played a role in his season, but he was able to be more available and that is a big win for him and the team.
