The New England Patriots have started the long and arduous process of building a 90-man roster that they will eventually have to cut down to 53 players ahead of the 2026 season.
Throughout the offseason, they have worked hard at signing a new crop of free agents, drafting new rookies and sifting through the undrafted rookie free agent market. In the coming weeks, we will be breaking down the current roster with predictions on who stays and goes.
But for now, let's take a look at the Patriots' full roster in its current state. Broken down by position, here's every player on the team.
There are some legitimate questions about the Patriots drafting Behren Morton in the seventh round, when they could have simply snagged an undrafted rookie free agent to develop behind Drake Maye and Tommy DeVito. But the move in general is understandable. The Patriots needed another quarterback after cutting Joshua Dobbs this offseason.

For all of the talk of the wide receiver room being crowded, the Patriots are also crowded at running back. Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson are clearly the top two options at the position. But things will get interesting down the depth chart with rookie Jam Miller joining the mix with Terrell Jennings and Lan Larison, who showed real promise during last year's training camp and the preseason.
As for the fullback position, the Patriots signed one of the best in the league in Reggie Gilliam.
The Patriots will have to make some tough decisions at wide receiver, especially with A.J. Brown likely to be traded to the team on or after June 1. If the Brown deal ultimately goes through, this could turn into the best receiving corps the Patriots have had in years.
Hunter Henry is one of the most reliable pass-catchers on the Patriots' roster, but he is also 31 years old and much closer to the end of his run than the beginning. With Austin Hooper leaving in free agency, the Patriots used a third-round pick on arguably the most complete tight end in the entire 2026 NFL Draft, Eli Raridon. They also upgraded by adding a legitimate blocking tight end with veteran Julian Hill.
The goal since Coach Mike Vrabel's arrival has been to improve the offensive line. That clearly remained the case in the draft with the Patriots using a first-round pick on an offensive tackle for a second year straight. Caleb Lomu is a talented swing tackle who will start out behind Will Campbell and Morgan Moses. The team also added rookie Dametrious Crownover, who has high upside as an NFL offensive lineman.
Things have never looked better for quarterback Drake Maye on the offensive front.
The Patriots put their trust in players like Cory Durden and Joshua Farmer with their decision not to draft a defensive tackle. It's also easier to make that kind of decision when they have two maulers up front with Milton Williams and Christian Barmore.
Edge rusher was believed to be one of the Patriots' biggest needs heading into the 2026 NFL Draft. So they double-dipped at the position by selecting Gabe Jacas and Quintayvious Hutchins. There's hope that Harold Landry can stay healthy, along with getting perceived Year 2 jumps from Elijah Ponder and Bradyn Swinson.
As for middle linebacker, Robert Spillane will be a returning team captain playing alongside Christian Elliss. Whether rookie Namdi Obiazor factors in at some point remains to be seen.
Christian Gonzalez has firmly established himself as one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. Carlton Davis III is a solid No. 2 option, and Marcus Jones played like an All-Pro last season. The biggest question at cornerback for New England is the depth. So the team used a fifth-round draft pick on Wake Forest's Karon Prunty.
Kevin Byard is a clear upgrade over Jaylinn Hawkins, who was really good for the Patriots last season. It isn't a fair comparison considering Byard is a three-time First-Team All-Pro player who led the NFL in interceptions last season. The team should be feeling good about pairing him with an emerging young star in Craig Woodson.
Andy Borregales looks like a promising kicker with staying power in New England—finally. Long snapper Julian Ashby will have some competition with Niko Lalos signing in free agency. The Patriots also invited Indiana punter Mitch McCarthy to their rookie minicamp, which means Bryce Baringer could have some competition as well.
