Florida is among multiple high-profile programs working to flip Texas Tech commit Jalen Brewster in a battle that's been heating up over the past several months for the five-star defensive lineman. Pegged at the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2027 class, Brewster is a prized recruit with the ability to have a massive impact on a program.
Powerhouse programs continue to pursue the 6-foot-3-inch, 302-pound Cedar Hill, Texas, native despite his hard commitment back in October 2025. Reports indicate that Florida and Texas A&M remain in the mix as they push hard to turn Brewster away from the Red Raiders.
Brewster is one of the top priorities for Jon Sumrall and Co. as they continue to shift focus towards building out an elite offensive and defensive front. The Orange and Blue have already begun to stack blue-chip talent along the trenches, signing five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller last month. Closing the gap on the rest of the conference begins with fortifying the line of scrimmage.
He visited Gainesville multiple times this spring and insiders on the trail suggest the Gators made a strong impression during those encounters. Florida enduring the field to stay in contention signals to the nation that the program is inching back towards relevance.
Landing Brewster to pair with Hiller would represent one of the greatest successes in recent Florida history and help spark a new era in Gators football.
Brewster is ranked No. 1 overall and No. 1 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite. The Rivals industry ranking also has Brewster at No. 1. He has garnered 40 offers, including 10 SEC programs. Brewster committed to Texas Tech in October of last year.

According to 247Sports scouting analyst Gabe Brooks, Brewster is a "strong, explosive front-line defender with an impressive combination of size and athleticism" who is "not overly long, but broad-trunked and powerfully built" that "flashes sudden redirection that fosters playmaking in the trenches."
The Lone Star State product is also "experienced inside and in a two-point edge alignment" and is "heavy-handed and stack-and-shed strong." Brooks concludes that Brewster "owns impressive combine testing numbers" and is a "potential high-major impact player in college who could become a bona fide NFL draft candidate."
