Texas A&M head coach Bucky McMillan is focusing on rebuilding his roster after a successful NCAA Tournament run. The Aggies are reportedly considering Cincinnati transfer center Moustapha Thiam as they seek to add size to their front court before the transfer portal closes on April 21.
Heading into his second season at the helm, Texas A&M head coach Bucky McMillan has already received an extension after leading his first roster to the NCAA Tournament, while finishing with a 22-12 record, including 11 SEC wins during his inaugural campaign. Leading a team completely built from the transfer portal, McMillan and his staff are now in rebuild mode after the transfer portal opened on Tuesday.
However, nothing matches Friday's news that former Kansas State point guard PJ Haggerty will head to College Station and play for the Aggies in 2026. Combined with junior forward Mackenzie Mgbako, who is expected to return after his season ended prematurely, star power isn't an issue, but depth at guard and forward is a must before the portal closes on April 21.
While McMillan and his staff have contacted a wide range of transfer guards, adding size in the front court, even with Vinson's return, has become the focus after it was revealed that the Aggies are looking to add Charleston center Chol Machot, and, as of Monday, Cincinnati transfer center Moustapha Thiam is also a name to watch.
According to college basketball analyst Jeff Goodman, Thiam, who is 7'2" and averaged 12.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, and shot 52% from the field last season, looks like an immediate starter in McMillan's offense.
