Former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback attended the Tennessee Titans rookie minicamp last week, but his performance did not turn into a roster spot. It was announced on Monday that Salter would be heading to the Canadian Football League, signing a contract with the British Columbia Lions.
The BC Lions play in Vancouver, British Columbia, and are the oldest professional sports franchise in British Columbia. They are coming off a 2025 season where they went 11-7.
Salter joins a Lions' quarterback room with Chase Brice, Nathan Rourke and Tommy Rittenhouse. It will be interesting to see if Salter can crack the starting lineup at some point during the upcoming season.
During his one season in Boulder, Salter started nine games for the Buffs, throwing for 1,414 yards with 10 touchdowns. He added 356 rushing yards and five touchdowns on the ground. The production did not really match what Colorado was hoping for after Salter won Conference USA MVP at Liberty in 2023.
Salter was one of eight former Buffaloes to sign with a team post-draft, joining players like wide receiver Sincere Brown and defensive end Arden Walker.
The CFL season kicks off on June 4 with the BC Lions playing their first games on Saturday, June 13.
