Los Angeles defeated Portland, 85-75, Sunday at Moda Center in Portland, Oregon in a WNBA preseason game.
Former Lady Vol Rae Burrell started for the Sparks and played 18 minutes. She totaled four points, two rebounds, two steals and one block.
Burrell was selected by Los Angeles in the first round of the 2022 WNBA draft (No. 9 overall). She was the 44th Lady Vol to be drafted to the WNBA. Burrell completed her degree in communication studies at Tennessee in May 2022.
She was named to the 2021-22 USA TODAY Preseason All-America Third Team. Burrell's career-high for points in a game was 26 against Arkansas on Jan. 7, 2021.
The 6-foot-2 guard played at Tennessee from 2018-22. She appeared in 110 games, including 47 starts. Burrell averaged 10.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 22.6 minutes per game.
She went to Tennessee from Liberty High School in Henderson, Nevada.
