Bucky Brooks ranks Jordyn Tyson, Carnell Tate, and Makai Lemon as the top three receivers in the 2026 NFL Draft class. He highlights Tyson's special qualities and compares him to Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
Who are the top three receivers in this 2026 NFL Draft class?
Bucky Brooks was the 48th overall selection in the 1994 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills. He played four seasons in the NFL, starting two games, and is currently an analyst for the NFL Network and NFL.com. Brooks appeared on the "Grant & Danny" Show on 106.7 The Fan on Monday. Brooks was asked to give his top three receivers of this rookie class.
Brooks quickly wanted Grant & Danny to realize he was on to Jordyn Tyson much sooner than other analysts. "I'm going to say this. Before the buzz got going crazy over Jordyn Tyson. Jordyn Tyson is number one, Carnell Tate is number two, and Makai Lemon was number three, and I said that from day one. You can check my top five (receivers)."
Brooks then elaborated further comparing Tyson to a leading NFL receiver this past season. "Jordyn Tyson to me has special qualities. He is the type of player who reminds me a lot of Jaxon Smith-Njigba. It's a very similar scenario. Didn't play his last year because of injury. But when he came into the league, you see the route-running ability and what he did. Jordyn Tyson had a similar plight. He can play inside and outside. He dominates when he is on the field. Catching the ball is very easy for him. He has star quality."
However, Tyson has battled injuries. Those injuries have limited him, and as a result, the vast majority of mock drafts have had Tyson as third behind both Tate and Lemon. How about Mel Kiper in his final mock draft? Kiper has Tate going to the Commanders at No. 7, Tyson going second to the Chiefs at No. 9, and Lemon going No. 13 to the Rams.
For comparison sake, Todd McShay in his final mock draft sees it the same way with all three receivers being drafted in the same positions as Kiper. Tate again goes No. 7 (Jets trade up with Commanders), the Chiefs take Jordyn Tyson at No. 9, and Lemon goes to the Rams at No. 13.
Bucky Brooks ranks Jordyn Tyson as the top receiver, followed by Carnell Tate and Makai Lemon.
Jordyn Tyson is noted for his special qualities, route-running ability, and versatility to play both inside and outside.
Bucky Brooks compares Jordyn Tyson to Jaxon Smith-Njigba, noting their similar situations regarding injuries and their impressive route-running abilities.
